About Us
The Legion of Mary is a movement of lay Catholic people who, with the sanction of the Church and under the leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of all Graces, serve the Church and their neighbor, on a voluntary basis, in about 190 countries around the world. With the approval and support of the current and past Popes, countless Bishops, Priests and Religious, as well as the prayers and efforts of Legion Members throughout the world, the Legion has over ten million members in its ranks.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through development of the holiness of its members, through prayer and active cooperation, under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary's and the Church's work of crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ in the communities in which they live.
Members of the Legion of Mary become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service in a family atmosphere. Works include visiting the sick or aged, door to door evangelization, Catholic education, visiting the newly baptized, jail visitation, promotion of the Rosary and/or other Catholic devotions and any other work determined by the parish priest needed to serve the needs of the parish community.
The Legion of Mary has active groups in many of the parishes throughout the Diocese and is growing. If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, want to enrich your prayer life, want to develop close Catholic friendships or grow closer to Jesus and His Mother, consider coming as a guest to one of our meetings. Meetings are held weekly at various times and days throughout the Diocese. If you are interested in attending one of our meetings, or merely want to find out more about us, please use the Contact Us button at the top of this page.
